Mission
Our Story
Leo’s Legacy Project was founded to honor the memory of our little lion, Leo, whom we lost during pregnancy. His brief presence profoundly changed our lives, and we felt compelled to carry forward his legacy.
While we were fortunate to give Leo the burial we believed he deserved, we recognize that many families experiencing similar heartbreak may not have the same resources or support. As newcomers to Lumberton, we were deeply moved by the compassion and sense of community that surrounded us during our loss. After talking with friends and family, we felt there was an opportunity for us to give back and extend that same kindness to others in need, especially those struggling to meet healthcare/wellbeing-related needs.
Our Commitment to Families
We understand that every family’s story is unique, and our mission is to meet those needs with compassion and respect. Our support may include:
● Financial coverage for burial or memorial expenses, transportation to medical appointments, or essential care needs.
● Comfort and care programs such as meals, care packages, or toys.
● Joyful outreach including seasonal drives and events that bring hope and light to children and families during difficult times.
● Additional Support beyond direct support, we may also partner with families as a research and resource guide, helping them discover and connect with the services and assistance they need long-term.
